What to Do While Visiting Zagreb

Visiting ZagrebThe capital of the beautiful country of Croatia is Zagreb. While visiting this city, there are many things to enjoy besides great accommodation Croatia.

This eastern European capital is not just a cosmopolitan city with modern hotels, great restaurants and exciting bars and night clubs, it is also a cultural wonder with its’ many museums and historic sites. It is also a very green city by today’s standards with it many parks right within the city itself. Right in the center of town is Zrinjevac, a gorgeous park with fountains, trees and flowers. It is amazing to see how the parks start right at Zrinjevac and continue to the rail station, right through the breathtaking botanical gardens and all the way to Tito Square where the main theater is. These parks are called the Lenucci horseshoe named after the landscaper and the shape of them. Just relax on one of the many benches and enjoy your surroundings while planning the rest of your Zagreb visit.

Another nature park not to be missed is Medvednica. With its’ many landscaped trails you can see mountain houses and historical monuments. It is also educational with about one thousand recorded plant varieties and songs of almost one hundred types of birds. Along with insects and animals, this walk will keep you in touch with the earth as it should be.

Every city has its’ museums, but Zagreb boasts exhibits from the whole world that are high in artistic and historical value. There is a rare Zagreb Mummy on display and also the actual remains of a Neanderthal man.

For architectural wonders, the Zagreb Cathedral is not to be missed. After visiting this magnificent cathedral, the St. Francis Church, St. Mark’s Church and the Palace of HAZU should also be seen for their architectural beauty. The Lotrscak Tower is considered the most attractive, right along with the cathedral.

It is important to enjoy the many outdoor cafes and do some people watching while visiting Zagreb, and the most important thing to remember is the warmth and friendliness of the Croatian people.
